Bread and Butter Front and Center

Be the First to Comment

Here’s a simple tip from the marketing aspect of web site design – keep your bread and butter front and center. Many sites are crowded with extras and bonuses, but the main business of the site is overshadowed. You must determine what a “sale” is in your market, then arrange your design elements around it. Mobile Concepts 360 is a firm located in Northwest Arkansas that helps people get into the mobile entertainment industry. The site is static css, xhtml, and php and incorporates the Smooth Gallery by jondesign. The design of the site revolves around the logo and borrows elements from it. It’s meant to convey kind of a techie-gamie feel, hence the color scheme and the cool mootools accordion sidebar elements.

I’ve been re-designing this site since I first launched! In fact, I have a hard drive full of designs with “potential” that just never really crystallized into the right design for me. I’ve finally settled in on one that I believe reflects my personality and tastes quite well. Let me share the thought process with you… Read the rest of this article »

To Flash Or Not To Flash

Read the First Comment

Flash designers amaze me. I thoroughly enjoy making graphic mockups, slicing them up and coding them for the web, then integrating them into a content management system.
