About eGrace Creative
Who Am I?I’m Brandon Cox. I live in Northwest Arkansas and I serve as Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church. Jesus is my greatest passion. Then comes my family and my ministry as a Pastor. If I have a third, it’s helping you with your web site.
My Philosophy of Web Design
Let me keep this simple - keep it simple! I’m a Pastor, so I look at church web sites all the time. Generally speaking, most church web sites are prime examples of what not to do in web design. Animated spinning crosses, overdone flash effects, large photos of a building, perhaps with a graveyard in the background… you get the picture. The worst are those that spend about a year and a half with a little animated cartoon of a guy digging with a shovel and a little sign that says “still under construction.”
Web designs that work well ought to be clean and simple. Unless you’re in a media business, too much media causes sensory overload, leading to frustrated users who click away to some other more interesting site while a flash intro is “loading… loading… loading…”
If you’re a business, people want to know about your business, what you offer, and whether you’re worth their time and money. If you’re a church, they want to know how to find you, when you meet, and what ministries you offer. Your site ought to be easy on the eyes, soothing to the brain, and quick to yield the desired outcome a visitor expects.
