The New eGrace Creative Is Here!
I’ve been re-designing this site since I first launched! In fact, I have a hard drive full of designs with “potential” that just never really crystallized into the right design for me. I’ve finally settled in on one that I believe reflects my personality and tastes quite well. Let me share the thought process with you…
I like the Web 2.0 look, it’s just overdone. A few of the mockups I worked on presented glassy buttons and reflective flare, but they just aren’t me. I’m a Pastor who sits in a library and likes coffee shops. Though I enjoy web design, sometimes I like to look away from a computer screen into something… classic? So I went with earthtones and a classic font.
I like simple. Yes, there are a lot of design elements integrated into this site, but there’s only one font - Georgia. It’s one of the few designs I’ve done that has incorporated anything but a thin, clean font. But sticking with one font throughout keeps things simple. And it’s just two-column. I wanted a blog-style site that would feature things in a simple interface.
I like personal. My super-creative daughter, Ella Grace, inspired the name of this freelance site to begin with, so why not have her smiling face as constant inspiration for me each time I see my site? You surely don’t want a picture of me up there!
I’m tired of waiting. I could theoretically keep re-designing my site for years to come… Okay, I probably will do that. But something this very morning told me, “It’s time to launch it!” So I did, and I’m happy with it… for now.
